Cambodia is Southeast Asian country, bordered with Thailand, Laos, and Vietnam. Cambodia has a tropical climate, which is hot and wet. Many places in Cambodia either have been identified to become protected areas or have been transformed into deforestation zones. Different organizations and the government have worked together to discover modern animal species in Cambodia’s forests. Until recently, however, there has been no evidence of dinosaurs existing in prehistoric Cambodia. Although, it is quite obvious, since Thailand, our bordering country, has found evidence of dinosaurs fossil and footprint in their country. This discovery means that there might also have been dinosaurs living in Cambodia way back many millions of years ago.

Our story
This discovery began in 2015 when the Coordinating Committee for Geoscience Programmes in East and Southeast Asia from Thailand (CCOP) came into Cambodia and cooperated with the Cambodian General Department of Mineral Resources, headed by Deputy Director General Sieng Sotham, on geological surveys. The Thai Department of Mineral Resources trained the department to do research on dinosaur footprints using their field methodology. Historically, Cambodia has never conducted this kind of research on dinosaur species. This is the first time in Cambodia’s history that we are working together with Thailand paleontologists. The Thai Department of Mineral Resources discovered the area in Battambang province where the footprints were located.
Our Documentary
This is a documentary explaining about the process of our discovery. We decided to make this documentary so that we could share about our research toward the world, specifically, Cambodian. We hope that the film inspire students of Cambodia to have the interest in learning about science and or dinosaurs.
